I’ve wanted a digital SLR camera for years, but until recently I’ve always talked myself out of it. In fact when planning my most recent trip to Belize I debated back and forth with myself regarding whether to get a digital SLR or an underwater camera. At that time I went with the underwater camera and I don’t regret that decision at all. I just loved taking pictures of the coral and sea life around the Belize Barrier Reef.
But recently I yearned to give ‘serious’ photography a try…and by ‘serious’ I mean using a more expensive camera. 😉
I read a lot of articles I barely understood and asked one of my co-workers who is very familiar with photography a lot of silly questions. After all that I settled on a Nikon 3100 from Costco. I have a lot to learn about my camera and I’m not quite sure of the right method…classes, books, trial and error, etc. Right now I’m leaning towards a little of everything.
I digress here a bit, but with good reason…
I just had two of my Belizean vacation photos printed on canvas. It made me second-guess purchasing my new camera. The two pictures turned out to beautifully that it made me doubt I needed a ‘better’ camera. On the other hand…a more expensive camera will make be a better photographer, right? Obviously I know that isn’t true, but I’m going to give it my all and see if I can actually pull this photography thing off.
Stay tuned for future blog post about my photography adventures. And I even hope that one day I’ll understand my camera enough to write a review about it.
Here’s to happy shooting…
Thanks to Shelly for taking some pictures of me using my new camera.
