Midas Resort in San Ignacio, Belize

I stayed at Midas 12/1 – 12/8, 2010. I’m a solo traveler so where I stay really matters to me. The price at Midas was very reasonable and I even rented a Cabana. I was a bit shocked when I arrived late at night because the entrance was a mess. It turns out they are currently under construction (adding a privacy wall and amazing pool). Having a pool will even make them a better place to stay. They are very close to town (about a 5-10 minute walk), but far enough away that the noise of San Ignacio won’t keep you awake at night (but the roosters and birds might wake you up a bit early…I didn’t mind).

The room was extremely well taken care of and clean. Just a note…my shower took a while to warm up…there is hot water…just turn it on and wait a few minutes. They serve breakfast there which was ok, but I’d recommend skipping it most days and eating in town.

The staff was excellent…especially Thomas who worked in the evenings and the gals who cleaned the rooms, did the laundry, and cooked the food. They were even kind of enough to dry my shoes after my visit to Actun Tunichil Muknal.

The staff at Midas Resort is very responsive to email.  They also will arrange transportation from the airport for you.

I highly recommend Midas Resort as a place to stay in San Ignacio.

Price I Paid for Cabana:  $64 per night

Note:  Since I stayed there some of my friends later stayed there and they reported that the pool is finished, but there is still some construction in progress.
